Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena is the main loser, shedding 5.8% on concerns about whether the bank will need to launch a new capital increase or be rescued by the state, having opened up in positive territory. Banca Popolare dell’Emilia Romagna ends down 4.5% and Banco Popolare drops 2.5%.
