What takes Nintendo ( 7974.Japan) so long to release a mobile version of its many well-loved gaming characters?
Nintendo surged 9.1% in Tokyo this morning after releasing Pokemon Go, a mobile version of Pokemon, on Thursday. This app is now available for download in both iOS and Android app stores.
Nintento in March released its first mobile game Miitomo, which game reviewers and analysts brushed aside as a non-event. Nintendo’s stock surged last March after the company announced a partnership with DeNA ( 2432.Japan), but has languished since September as investors grew impatient with Nintendo’s mobile release schedules.
We are still waiting for the mobile version of Mario Brothers.
DeNA jumped 2.1% this morning.
