0257 GMT [Dow Jones] New Zealand’s beef cattle herd increased by 2.8% to 3.7 million during the 2015-16 season, while the country’s sheep flock decreased 3.0% and now totals 28.3 million, according to farming body Beef + Lamb New Zealand. The fall in sheep numbers is being attributed to drought in parts of the country along with a disease outbreak that killed animals and reduced fertility in ewes.
